Candace Gingrich, of the Human Rights Campaign, continued the talk on Proposition 8.  Candace stressed, on Countdown with Keith Olbermann, that people need to understand what marriage equality really is about.  And to not stop the discussion and realize how this proposition affected families.

Candace also talked about a letter she wrote to her brother, Newt Gingrich, responding to his comments that “there is a gay and secular fascism in this country that wants to impose its will on the rest of us.” Oh, there is nothing like a good sibling rivalry.  Here are some excerpts from the letter.

Good news for families in Florida.  Today, a circuit judge ruled that Martin Gill is allowed to adopt two half-brothers he and his partner has raised since 2004.  This ruling struck down a 31-year-old ban on gays and lesbians from adopting children.

The Judge, Cindy S. Lederman wrote in her ruling, “there is no question, the blanket exclusion of gay applicants defeats Florida’s goal of providing dependent children a permanent family through adoption…It is clear that sexual orientation is not a predictor of a person’s ability to parent.”

Florida is the only state that specifically bans homosexuals from adopting children.  The state argued gays and lesbians have higher odds of suffering from depression, substance abuse and anxiety disorders.  And the state felt that gay and lesbian households are more unstable than heterosexual ones.  Arkansas voters also recently voted on a measure to prohibit unmarried couples, both same-sex and opposite-sex couples from adopting children or serving as foster parents.

Although several organizations, such as the National Adoption Center, the American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics believe gay and lesbian parents do not negatively affect children.

This decision brings some long awaited good news for same-sex couples in Florida.  It’s a step closer for the equal treatment of gays and lesbians.  Their right to form and have a family.  It’s just unfortunate same-sex couples were recently striped from their right right to marry.

I am such a “weak sauce” when it comes to the common cold.  How do we do it?  Every year or so, well at least I do, go through a box of tissues trying to clear my nose.  I usually try not to complain, because I hate all of those Sickly McGee’s out there that make it known they are sick.  Those that talk about, how many pills they’ve had and how severe their headache’s are and so on.

But, I’ll admit it.  Even though I’m suffering a minor cold,  I want to die.  Okay, so maybe I’m a big drama queen, but life is so much better when you can breath and your head doesn’t feel like it’s going to explode.  I guess my sensitive reaction to medicine doesn’t help.  If Sudafed PE non-drowsy makes me loopy, I won’t dare take the strong stuff.  I would’ve been knocked out for days.  Which, actually isn’t a bad idea.  It’s certainly better than trying to watch daytime TV “drugged” up on Sudafed.  Anyway, I just turned into that very person I hate.  Sickly McGee, crying to the world how horrible it is to have a cold.  At least, for me, it doesn’t happen often.  So, I’ll own that title.

Today is going to be a good day.

Joe the plumber!

No, America isn’t that messed up.

But, what’s going on?  I just heard on the radio, Hillary Clinton has accepted the offer for secretary of state.  Then I find the Clinton camp saying, “We’re still in discussions, which are very much on track.”  These leaks are so funny, but the secretary of state leak, I find annoying.  Oh, they had a discussion.  Oh, Clinton was offered a position.  Oh, Clinton is considering.  Oh, Clinton wants a new role in the Senate.

Oh, spill it already!

Warning!  The horror starts 3 minutes into the video.

The cameraman just happened to perfectly fit the turkey slaughter into the shot.  I wonder if Sarah Palin did this on purpose.  She just couldn’t resist the media attention.
